Compensation: The hourly wage ranges from $21 to $28, influenced by geographic location, educational background, and professional experience.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting and assisting patients throughout their treatment journey, from admission to discharge. The primary responsibilities of the Mental Health Technician II include ensuring patient safety, facilitating milieu interventions, leading psychoeducational groups, and guiding patients as they navigate their treatment process. Given that the Technician team is available to patients around the clock, diligent monitoring and effective communication with the treatment team are vital. This position reports directly to the Facility Manager or Program Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Introduce new patients to the treatment program, outlining its requirements, objectives, and daily routines. Complete necessary assessments within 24 hours of admission.
  • Identify any special needs of new patients, communicate these to the treatment team, and assist in addressing them.
  • Monitor all patients throughout their treatment, ensuring they remain within sight in the milieu and regularly checking on them in private areas.
  • Support colleagues in fostering a positive environment, acting as a role model, and collaborating effectively as a team.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being of patients by exemplifying a professional and compassionate demeanor towards colleagues, patients, and visitors. Treat all individuals with respect and courtesy.
  • Facilitate the treatment plan established by the Therapist by providing daily support to patients and assisting them in engaging with positive coping strategies.
  • Recognize the importance of structure by adhering to house rules and the group schedule during each shift.
  • Lead and engage patients in therapeutic groups, such as coping skills, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and life skills, for the designated duration as outlined in the Program Schedule.
  • Document any behaviors observed in the milieu accurately and thoroughly, maintaining confidentiality regarding all patient and program-related activities.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and courteously, directing inquiries to the appropriate team members when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment by completing required cleaning tasks during the shift and documenting them appropriately.
  • Serve as a positive role model or shift leader for colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution or
  • Two years of experience in a mental health setting or working with adolescents
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License in good standing
  • CPI and CPR/First Aid certification required within 90 days of employment
