Senior Counsel, Commercial Business Units

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our Commercial Business Units team at BD. As a key member of our Global BD Law Group, you will partner with our business unit commercial counsels to support the commercial operations of our global business units.
Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day legal advice to our businesses and draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Identify and resolve complex legal issues to support the commercial operations of our global business units.
- Develop strong knowledge of our supported BD portfolios and clients.
- Serve as legal reviewer alongside Medical and Regulatory representatives to review and approve advertising and promotional materials.
- Maintain familiarity with laws that affect the medical device industry, including those relevant to sales and marketing of products to healthcare professionals and reimbursement by government programs.
- Advise and counsel relating to M&A, partnerships, and strategic collaborations, including conducting due diligence and drafting and negotiating related agreements.
- Develop strong relationships throughout all functional areas, departments, and divisions to foster an advisory or collaborative approach to proactive compliance.
- Collaborate across many functions, countries, cultures, and time zones to drive results on complex projects.
- 8 or more years of relevant law firm and/or corporate in-house law department experience.
- Hold a J.D. or L.L.M. with strong academic credentials from an accredited law school and an undergraduate degree from a college or university of recognized standing.
- Admission to the California Bar, and a member in good standing, or eligible to practice as California Registered in-house counsel under California Rules of Court 9.46.
- Solid analytical and conceptual skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with an acute ability to listen attentively and to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization.
- Ability to present nuanced, complicated, and content-rich issues clearly and succinctly.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills and ability to influence diverse stakeholders, navigate controversial situations, and change traditional ways of doing business.
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, exercise independent judgment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to produce high-quality work under significant deadline pressures.
