As a Senior Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to our Commercial and Money Movement Solutions (CMS) business. Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and support to the CMS business across a wide range of complex commercial matters and projects.
- Navigate the complex landscape of money movement regulations, working closely with other experienced attorneys across regions and practice areas.
- Engage and manage external counsel on a range of issues, interrogating legal analyses and translating advice into clear and actionable guidance for our business teams.
- Contribute to Visa's thought leadership in money movement and help develop new products and services to build the future of money movement.
- Understand Visa's strategy, recognizing the connections between matters and working pro-actively to ensure these are given appropriate attention for the benefit of the Visa group and its overall management of legal risk.
- Manage day-to-day legal queries and take the lead on all relevant legal activities.
- Train business areas on law, processes, and policies.
- Develop, manage, and maintain relationships to facilitate the effective delivery of legal support, liaising with other Visa departments across the globe to ensure full alignment with business needs and policies.
- Proactively contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal, Ethics & Compliance division as a whole.
- 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD.
- Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing.
- Fluent English speaker.
- Strong academic credentials.
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD.
- Experience of commercial law and regulations in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Good understanding of working in-house within a large technology organization.
- Enthusiasm to become an expert adviser within the payments industry.
This is a hybrid position, requiring 2-3 set days of office work per week. The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $201,500.00 to $262,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
