About the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our Commercial Law team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert advice and support to our business teams on complex commercial matters and projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in navigating the intricate landscape of money movement regulations and ensuring compliance with global standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide legal advice and support to our business teams on commercial matters, including Visa Direct and CMS solutions.
- Navigate complex money movement regulations and collaborate with colleagues across regions and practice areas.
- Engage and manage external counsel on various issues, analyzing legal analyses and translating advice into actionable guidance for our business teams.
- Contribute to Visa's thought leadership in money movement and help develop new products and services to shape the future of payments.
- Understand Visa's strategy, recognizing connections between matters and proactively ensuring they receive appropriate attention for the benefit of the Visa group and its overall management of legal risk.
- 10+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8+ years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., JD, MBA, MD) or 3+ years with a PhD.
- Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing.
- Fluent English speaker.
- Strong academic credentials.
- 12+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., JD, MBA, MD) or 6+ years with a PhD.
- Experience in commercial law and regulations in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Good understanding of working in-house within a large technology organization.
- Enthusiasm to become an expert adviser within the payments industry.
This is a hybrid position, requiring occasional travel (5-10% of the time). The position will be performed in an office setting, with the incumbent expected to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment.
