Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for spearheading strategic initiatives and operational planning aimed at enhancing outdoor recreation prospects for governmental entities. Collaborate with program leaders to identify and prioritize business development strategies, while overseeing planning activities that facilitate growth in targeted markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize market insights and industry knowledge to foster a robust business development culture within the team.
  • Maintain a comprehensive CRM system and manage interactions with potential clients, ensuring a modern approach to capturing new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and conduct client demonstrations, develop engaging presentations, and lead client briefings.
  • Continuously monitor competitive landscapes and market trends, implementing processes that support business expansion.
  • Track and manage qualified prospects through the sales pipeline, driving capture initiatives and overseeing the complete sales process.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years in business development, sales management, or related fields, particularly within outdoor recreation and governmental contracting.
  • Proven track record of generating significant revenue through state government partnerships.
  • Experience in cultivating relationships with state agencies and managing the business development lifecycle.
  • Ability to gather requirements, assess gaps, and recommend enhancements based on client feedback.
  • Skilled in identifying opportunities for added value and evaluating risks associated with market expansion.
  • Proficient in managing short-term and long-term project execution.
  • Experience in conducting product demonstrations to assist clients in addressing park management challenges.
  • Expertise in crafting results-oriented RFPs and contracts that enhance win probability.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and technical delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to inform sales forecasts and manage a pipeline of prospective opportunities.
  • Proactive in seeking learning opportunities and applying market research insights to support growth.
  • Capable of functioning effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and negotiation capabilities.
