As a **Power System Network Model Engineer**, you will play a crucial role in the integration of generation and energy storage resources into the ERCOT System. This position encompasses the entire process from the initial application for entry into the Generation Interconnection or Change Request (GINR) process to the final approval for commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts analysis of generation element parameters.
  • Collaborates closely with ERCOT System Operations, System Operations Support, Market Operating Services Support, Client Services, System Planning, and Metering.
  • Generates detailed model changes through Network Operations Model Change Requests (NOMCRs) to ensure the accuracy of the Network Operations Model and other models within the ERCOT modeling system.
  • Provides training and mentorship to participants in the Engineering Development Program (EDP).
  • Coordinates with the Resource Integration Working Group (RIWG) on integration and interconnection matters.
  • Evaluates new technology implementations impacting the model and proposes methods for accurate modeling.
  • Implements improvements to the modeling process and develops methods to enhance model accuracy through data validation checks.
  • Drafts and presents updates to protocols, guides, and training materials for EDP and Market Participants (MPs).
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of reports associated with compliance criteria.
  • Participates in the review of relevant NERC Standards and may engage in drafting teams.
Essential Duties:Entry Level:
  • Operates under the guidance of senior engineers to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.
  • Acquires skills in software tools that enhance system reliability and operational efficiencies.
  • Engages in team efforts to gather input and perform studies under supervision.
Mid-Level:
  • Oversees the integration of generation and energy storage resources throughout the interconnection process.
  • Ensures compliance with NERC Reliability Standards and ERCOT protocols.
  • Engages with Market Participants, including Interconnecting Entities, Resource Entities, Distribution Service Providers, and Transmission Service Providers.
  • Processes generation interconnection applications and conducts security screening studies.
  • Facilitates communication with stakeholders to resolve interconnection project issues.
  • Reviews and approves necessary documentation throughout the interconnection process.
  • Develops automated tools to streamline studies and reviews.
Senior Level:
  • Acts as a technical Subject Matter Expert within the department.
  • Addresses complex engineering challenges requiring in-depth analysis.
  • Facilitates stakeholder meetings and presentations.
  • Mentors junior engineers and leads cross-functional teams.
  • Maintains expertise in power system software applications and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Experience in power system engineering or the electric utility industry is preferred.
