Role Summary: The Power System Engineer plays a crucial role in managing the integration of generation and energy storage resources into the ERCOT System. This position oversees the entire process from the initial application for entry into the Generation Interconnection or Change Request (GINR) process to the final approval for commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts security screening studies and evaluates generation element parameters.
  • Collaborates with various departments including System Operations, Market Operating Services, and Client Services.
  • Generates detailed model modifications via Network Operations Model Change Requests (NOMCRs) to ensure the accuracy of the Network Operations Model.
  • Facilitates training and assessment for participants in the Engineering Development Program (EDP).
  • Engages with the Resource Integration Working Group (RIWG) on interconnection matters.
  • Analyzes new technology implementations that impact modeling accuracy and proposes effective modeling strategies.
  • Implements improvements to the modeling process and drafts necessary documentation for Protocols and Guides.
  • Maintains compliance with NERC Standards and contributes to drafting teams as a Subject Matter Expert.

Essential Duties:

  • Works under the guidance of senior engineers to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Participates in team efforts to gather input and conduct studies.

Experience Requirements:

  • No prior work experience is necessary for entry-level positions; salary and level are determined by overall experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in power system engineering or related fields is advantageous.
  • Background in the electric utility sector is preferred.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.

Work Arrangement:

  • This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence as needed based on business requirements.
