Job Title: Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving sales growth at WuXi AppTec. This individual will work closely with the leadership team to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, with a focus on penetrating key customers and expanding the company's presence in the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and qualify potential customers, and develop strategies to engage with them.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to present opportunities to senior leadership and facilitate business meetings with WuXi AppTec.
  • Perform daily outreach to potential clients to generate leads and build relationships.
  • Project a professional image of WuXi AppTec as a solutions provider, with clearly articulated messages and a strong understanding of the company's services.
  • Support proposal writing and negotiation, with a focus on consistency, quality, and effective communication.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for WuXi AppTec and customers, ensuring effective communication channels and proactive identification of growth opportunities.
  • Represent WuXi AppTec at various meetings and conferences, and participate in event planning and execution.
  • Work with senior leadership during crisis management and maintain excellent relationships with internal business partners.
  • Facilitate customer travel to China and ensure effective communication and teamwork across the Discovery Services unit.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, with 3+ years of industrial experience and at least one year of business development experience preferred.
  • Experience in CRO is a plus.
Technical Skills:
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of discovery leading to candidate selection and preclinical development.
Independence and Accountability:
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and self-motivated.
  • Functions in a highly flexible manner and is able to work independently.
  • Must be organized and detailed-oriented.
Problem Solving:
  • Possesses proven experience in creating or capitalizing on opportunities leading to successful outcomes, ideally with Business Development relevance.
Leadership Activities:
  • Independently identifies potential prospects and coordinates with other BD and scientific counterparts to provide appropriate solutions to clients.
  • Marketing to ensure coordination of efforts and ensure good communication with all parties.
Communication Skills:
  • Interpersonal skill sets for effective listening, dialog, and interactions.
