Job Overview

Qualcomm's XR Systems team is in search of a systems architect dedicated to advancing next-generation technologies and frameworks that will shape the future of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) applications.

The ideal candidate will undertake responsibilities that may include:
1. Identifying, analyzing, and documenting use cases and implementations related to AR/VR technologies.
2. Engaging in development and prototyping initiatives focused on technical workstreams for perception, reprojection, and split-processing, including quality validation and latency/quality trade-offs.
3. Contributing to technical workstreams aimed at sensor and display advancements, optimizing interfaces, and scoping reference designs for XR feature prototyping.
4. Conducting system-level use case modeling to validate and enhance architecture definitions.
5. Establishing requirements for custom hardware accelerators and general-purpose compute cores tailored for XR features and workflows.
6. Performing HW-SW feature analysis to optimize for power consumption and performance.

This multidisciplinary role requires a candidate with demonstrated expertise in AR/VR, computer vision, machine learning, perception, camera technology, hardware design, SoC architecture, HW/SW partitioning, and/or system modeling (power, performance, thermal).

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, along with project experience in architecture or micro-architecture.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in systems engineering or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science.
- Experience in designing Mixed & Augmented Reality systems, understanding constraints and trade-offs.
- In-depth knowledge of graphics pipelines, reprojection techniques, advanced rendering methods, computer vision pipelines, machine learning techniques, and camera systems.
- Proven track record in conducting architectural trade-offs, power/performance analysis, and/or SW-HW trade-offs.
- Experience in system-level modeling (performance and/or power).
- Over 5 years of experience in one or more of the aforementioned areas.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
