On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are seeking a highly qualified Senior Systems Engineering Consultant to join our team at ESTEC in the Netherlands.


Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will assist in the section's activities focusing on Systems and Concurrent Engineering (CE).

Project and Programme Support:
- Deliver systems engineering support and consultancy for ESA projects, programmes, and studies, enhancing digitalisation across all project phases;
- Aid in project evaluations and reviews;
- Foster the digitalisation of systems engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE), integrating these methodologies into projects;

Concurrent Engineering Activities:
- Engage in feasibility studies within the Concurrent Design Facility (CDF) as a Systems Engineer and/or Team Leader;
- Enhance tools and methodologies for systems and concurrent engineering;
- Propose and promote innovative applications of concurrent engineering, emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge technologies;

Research & Development and Technology Advancement:
- Contribute to the development and execution of the ESA technology strategy, supporting R&D work plans;
- Oversee the promotion, coordination, and selection of technology initiatives;
- Define and manage R&D activities as a Technical Officer within ESA's technology programmes, addressing both immediate and long-term needs;
- Monitor scientific and technological advancements in systems and concurrent engineering, maintaining state-of-the-art expertise;

Standardization Efforts:
- Assist in enhancing standardization in systems and concurrent engineering through ESA internal processes and lessons learned;

Knowledge Management:
- Promote systems and concurrent engineering within the Agency and among its partners;
- Facilitate the capture and dissemination of knowledge and lessons learned across the organization;

Additional duties may include supporting various activities requiring systems engineering expertise.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering or physics;
- Professional experience in satellite systems engineering and various satellite subsystems;
- Experience in spacecraft operations is advantageous;

Desired Technical Competencies:
- Knowledge of Concurrent Engineering methodologies, tools, and applications;
- Proficiency in Mission Analysis;
- Familiarity with Digitalisation and MBSE methodologies;
- Experience with Visualisation Technologies (Augmented Reality, Extended Reality - AR/XR);
- Understanding of Clean Space, Zero Debris, and Eco-Design principles;
- Project support experience in systems engineering, including reviews;
- Background in executing industrial activities;
- Knowledge of Space Engineering Standards and their implementation;
- Strong teamwork and communication skills;
- Ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders and efficiently plan and organize tasks;
- Results-oriented mindset with innovative thinking capabilities;
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

The candidate must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration.
