Job Title: Commercial Construction Project Manager
Location: Howell, MI
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct-Hire
This position requires on-site presence, with no options for hybrid or remote work.
The Commercial Construction Project Manager is tasked with the comprehensive oversight of commercial construction initiatives. This role demands exceptional leadership capabilities, outstanding communication skills, and a profound knowledge of the construction sector. The Project Manager will be accountable for ensuring that projects are executed punctually, remain within budgetary limits, and meet the expectations of all involved parties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Formulate and oversee project timelines, ensuring that all critical milestones and deadlines are achieved. Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate a smooth project progression.
- Budget Management: Develop and control project budgets, track expenditures, and guarantee that projects adhere to financial guidelines. Authorize and monitor all project-related costs and outlays.
- Team Leadership: Direct and manage construction teams, including site supervisors, subcontractors, and additional personnel. Offer guidance, direction, and motivation to promote high performance and alignment with project objectives.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all construction activities are executed to the highest quality standards and comply with all pertinent codes, regulations, and specifications.
- Client Communication: Act as the primary liaison for clients, providing regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and formulate mitigation strategies to secure project success. Oversee site safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise and current project documentation, including contracts, change orders, schedules, and reports. Deliver regular progress updates to company leadership and clients.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Select, negotiate with, and oversee subcontractors and vendors. Ensure that all parties are aligned with project objectives and timelines.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any challenges that arise during construction, whether related to logistics, personnel, or client issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- Experience with ground-up commercial construction in sectors such as retail, manufacturing/warehouse, municipalities, and similar.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction project management.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and teams effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented approach.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- PMP certification or other relevant certifications are advantageous.
