Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Elementary Education Specialist to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure seamless integration of students with disabilities into the classroom.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities, including accommodations and modifications as needed.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to ensure they are informed and involved in their child's education.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification in Special Education (PreK-8).
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an elementary setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff.
