Key Responsibilities

The following are the primary responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Oversee the management of the general ledger, accounts payable, deferred revenue, and fixed assets, ensuring compliance with established accounting standards.
  • Process payroll on a regular schedule and manage the onboarding of new employees as required.
  • Facilitate timely monthly closing procedures to provide accurate financial reports for internal stakeholders, leveraging technology for efficiency.
  • Coordinate the provision of financial documentation to external auditors for annual reviews and tax preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations regarding charitable registrations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for financial software and tools.
  • Advise internal teams on accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review and enhance revenue and expense reporting accuracy.
  • Monitor cash flow and maintain relationships with banking and investment partners.
  • Prepare and present financial health reports to the Finance Director.
  • Assist in the annual insurance renewal process.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Participate in Finance Committee meetings and represent the Finance Director when necessary.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably within a public accounting or non-profit environment. Strong communication skills across varying levels of financial understanding are essential. Familiarity with financial software, particularly Sage Intacct, is preferred. The ability to manage multiple project deadlines while maintaining flexibility is crucial. Candidates should exhibit excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal communication abilities.
