This internship will provide you with the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting, assisting our accounting department with various essential functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and cash management.

As an intern, you will work in a professional office environment, with some flexibility for remote work. The position offers a competitive hourly wage, and we anticipate a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week during the academic term.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support Daily Accounting Functions

  • Prepare journal entries and perform reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with the weekly deposit process and enter related data into our membership database and accounting software.
  • Contribute to the weekly invoice entry process using Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Monitor daily transactions from bank accounts and PayPal, preparing necessary entries.
  • Track staff credit card balances and assist with reconciliations.
  • Complete vendor applications as needed.
  • Respond to requests for financial information from both internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct General Accounting Activities
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including cash, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
  • Help maintain organized records and files within the accounting department.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial records and compliance with internal policies.
  • Assist with special projects and additional tasks as assigned by the accounting team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
Experience: Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting is preferred.
Skills: Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity and professionalism.
