Position Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a focus on Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave technologies. This role is pivotal within a multidisciplinary team engaged in projects that utilize cutting-edge, high-powered microwave sources. The successful candidate will provide essential technical support for the characterization and testing of various electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to thoroughly understand the design specifications for electrical systems that incorporate high-powered microwave technologies.
  • Develop and implement test plans for effects testing on electronic targets, utilizing defined parameters and conducting Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Perform detailed characterization of s-parameters and/or MMIC through the development of complex analysis methods.
  • Conduct noise figure assessments and work with low noise and power amplifiers.
  • Utilize circuit simulation software for the design of analog, RF, and microwave circuits.
  • Document engineering methodologies and findings in both informal and formal reports, ensuring comprehensive safety documentation is prepared.
  • Engage with fellow engineers, scientists, and technicians to deliver effective engineering solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Level

  • Independently apply advanced knowledge in complex electrical engineering and microwave RF domains to develop engineering solutions.
  • Act as a primary contact for project goals, mentoring junior staff and providing guidance to project leadership.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access, requiring U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles related to the assembly, calibration, and testing of both analog and digital systems.
  • Experience with noise figure analysis and working with low noise and power amplifiers.
  • Proficient in the characterization and testing of s-parameters and/or MMIC.
  • Familiarity with SPICE or similar circuit simulation tools.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to unique electrical system design requirements involving high voltage.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) as well as grounding and shielding techniques.
  • Experience with design tools such as ADS (Advanced Design System) or Cadence.
