Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Grid Engineer to spearhead research initiatives focused on the analysis of electrical power grid systems, emphasizing resilience and reliability. This role involves engaging in business development for the Cyber and Infrastructure Resilience (CIR) program within the Global Security (GS) Principal Associate Directorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage intricate research projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines while employing advanced analytical techniques and innovative methodologies.
  • Collaborate with LLNL scientists and engineers to translate research findings into practical applications within LLNL's Global Security initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the CIR program research roadmap in partnership with other program leads.
  • Establish and nurture internal and external collaborations, providing insights to secure funding for program objectives.
  • Co-author scientific publications and deliver presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Level

  • Oversee multiple complex projects, leveraging team skills effectively while managing competing priorities.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance and serve as a primary contact for program development, collaborating with management and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and support recruitment initiatives.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in power grid modeling, simulation, and operational planning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages for modeling, analysis, and visualization of power systems.
  • Demonstrated technical achievements in power systems engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and presentation of technical information.
  • Willingness to travel for sponsor and customer engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with DOE, DoD, and relevant state agencies.
  • Background in the electric power industry and national laboratories.
  • Expertise in power systems automation, microgrid design, and field testing.

Security Clearance
