Compensation Structure
The salary range for this position is as follows:
- $132,810 - $170,556 Annually for the SES.2 level
- $159,330 - $204,636 Annually for the SES.3 level

Position Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave technologies. This role is essential in a collaborative team focused on projects that leverage advanced microwave sources. The position is located within the Materials Engineering Division (MED) of the Engineering Directorate.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to thoroughly understand design specifications for electrical systems utilizing high-powered microwave sources.
- Develop and implement test plans for effects testing on various electronic targets, including conducting Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
- Perform characterization of s-parameters and/or MMIC through the development of complex analysis methods.
- Conduct noise figure analysis and work with low noise and power amplifiers.
- Utilize circuit simulation software for the design of analog, RF, and microwave circuits.
- Document engineering methodologies and results in both informal and formal reports, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Engage with engineers, scientists, and technicians to deliver effective engineering solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities for SES.3 Level
- Apply advanced knowledge in complex electrical engineering and microwave RF to develop engineering solutions with minimal supervision.
- Act as a primary contact for project goals, mentoring junior staff and providing guidance to project leadership.
Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles related to the assembly, calibration, and testing of electrical systems.
- Experience with noise figure analysis and low noise/power amplifiers.
- Proficient in the characterization and testing of s-parameters and/or MMIC.
- Familiarity with SPICE or similar circuit simulation tools.
- Ability to learn and adapt to unique electrical system design requirements.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex ideas clearly to technical teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) principles.
- Experience with design tools such as ADS (Advanced Design System) or Cadence.
