Position Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a focus on Radio Frequency (RF) and microwave technologies. This role is crucial in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to projects that leverage unique, high-powered microwave sources. You will provide essential technical support for characterization and effects testing on various electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to thoroughly understand design specifications for electrical systems involving high-powered microwave sources.
  • Develop and implement test plans for effects testing on electronic targets, including conducting Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Perform detailed characterization of s-parameters and/or MMIC through the development of complex analysis methods.
  • Conduct noise figure assessments and work with low noise and power amplifiers.
  • Utilize circuit simulation software for the design of analog, RF, and microwave circuits.
  • Document engineering methodologies and results in both informal and formal reports, ensuring safety documentation is prepared.
  • Engage with other engineers and scientists to deliver complex engineering solutions.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities for Advanced Level

  • Apply extensive knowledge in complex electrical engineering and microwave RF to lead engineering solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Act as a primary contact for project goals, mentoring junior staff and providing strategic guidance to project leadership.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles related to the assembly, calibration, and testing of both analog and digital systems.
  • Experience in noise figure analysis and working with low noise and power amplifiers.
  • Familiarity with characterization and testing of s-parameters and/or MMIC.
  • Proficient in using SPICE or similar circuit simulation tools.
  • Ability to grasp unique design requirements for high voltage electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly in both verbal and written formats.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) as well as grounding and shielding techniques.
  • Experience with design tools such as ADS (Advanced Design System) or Cadence.
