Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled and proactive Scientist or Senior Scientist specializing in cell biology, cell line development, and Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) production. The successful candidate will possess a robust foundation in molecular and cellular biology, with proven experience in genetic modification, tissue culture, and AAV vector development and analysis. This role entails leading experimental initiatives, crafting novel cell lines, and refining AAV production methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage cell culture processes, including transfection and selection of engineered cell lines.
  • Handle and expand primary cell populations.
  • Design and develop genetically modified cell lines for AAV production and related applications.
  • Enhance AAV production, purification, and characterization protocols to achieve superior quality and yield.
  • Utilize molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.
  • Evaluate and interpret experimental results, maintaining thorough and precise laboratory documentation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance ongoing research projects.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges associated with cell line engineering and AAV production.
  • Stay updated with the latest scientific literature and advancements to apply best practices and innovative methodologies.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate research outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience; or a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of applicable experience.
  • Significant hands-on expertise in gene editing techniques, including CRISPR and transposons.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AAV vector manipulation and production.
  • Strong skills in cell culture, particularly in the expansion and manipulation of primary mammalian cells.
  • Solid background in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for troubleshooting complex experimental challenges.
  • Meticulous organizational and documentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in manipulating and expanding stem cells or primary human immune cells.
  • Familiarity with large-scale AAV production and purification processes.
  • Background in developing cell gene therapy products.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards and guidelines pertaining to cell gene therapy products.
  • Prior experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and data analysis software.
