The Ellerby laboratory at the Buck Institute is on the lookout for a Neuroscience Research Fellow to investigate neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's, Huntington's disease, and X-Linked Dystonia Parkinsonism through the use of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).

The ideal candidate will possess a background in stem cell research, neurodegenerative conditions, and experience with murine models of disease.

We seek an individual who has a proven track record of being a primary author on peer-reviewed articles, demonstrates innovative problem-solving skills in research, and is capable of applying for fellowships or scholarships.

This role involves collaboration with the Campisi, Melov, or Schilling laboratories.

The Ellerby lab is dedicated to unraveling the core mechanisms that contribute to age-related neurodegenerative diseases and discovering novel therapeutic targets.

We are eager to leverage cutting-edge technologies to explore the prevalence of these neurological disorders as we age and to identify small molecule or protein therapeutics.

Our methodologies include utilizing patient-derived iPSCs, genomics, proteomics, small molecule screening, single-cell analysis, and CRISPR/Cas9 to enhance our understanding of these diseases and the aging process.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage in pioneering research focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying neurological disorders.
Concentrate on single-cell genomics in conjunction with iPSCs and organoid systems.
Collaborate with fellow scientists at the Buck Institute to establish standardized protocols and experimental frameworks.
Utilize murine models to gain insights into neurological diseases.
Conduct data analysis, annotation, and prepare reports employing commercial data integration, pathway analysis, and visualization tools.
Participate in institutional programs, seminars, and lectures.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Chemistry, or related disciplines.
Experience
Background in iPSCs is advantageous.
Experience in stem cell biology, neurodegenerative diseases, and CRISPR/Cas9 methodologies.
Proven ability to be a leading author on peer-reviewed publications.
Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team of researchers.
Self-driven and collaborative.
