Position Summary

We are in search of a knowledgeable and proactive Scientist or Senior Scientist specializing in cell biology, cell line development, and Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) production. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in molecular and cellular biology, showcasing expertise in genetic modification, tissue culture, and AAV vector production and analysis. This position entails leading experimental initiatives, creating novel cell lines, and refining AAV production methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cell cultures, perform transfections, and select engineered cell lines.
  • Manipulate and expand primary cell types.
  • Design, develop, and characterize genetically modified cell lines for AAV production and other applications.
  • Enhance AAV production, purification, and characterization protocols to ensure high-quality vector generation.
  • Utilize molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, ensuring meticulous and accurate lab documentation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support ongoing research initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to cell line engineering and AAV production.
  • Stay updated with scientific literature and advancements to implement best practices and innovative techniques.
  • Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and publications to convey research outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline with 3+ years of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience; or M.Sc. with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in gene editing technologies, including transposons and CRISPR.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the manipulation and production of AAV vectors.
  • Proficient in cell culture techniques, including the expansion and manipulation of primary mammalian cells.
  • Strong molecular biology skills, encompassing cloning, PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for troubleshooting complex experimental challenges.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with stem cell or primary human immune cell manipulation and expansion.
  • Experience in large-scale AAV production and purification.
  • Development experience for cell gene therapy products.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and guidelines for cell gene therapy products.
  • Previous experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry setting is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and data analysis software.
