Position Overview:
Azusa Pacific University is seeking a dedicated Client Partner to deliver essential consulting services to various departments within the university, as part of the Human Resource Services (HRS) team. This role is integral to the newly established People and Culture (P&C) sector.


The Client Partner will play a crucial role in aligning the university's strategic goals with the needs of employees and management within designated areas. Responsibilities include:

  • Consulting with management on HR-related matters and proactively addressing HR needs.
  • Developing tailored solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Coaching staff for performance improvement and navigating conflict situations.
  • Facilitating communication between HRS and management to ensure alignment.


Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and informed decisions on HR issues to both managers and employees.
- Assess employee relations scenarios, recommending and implementing appropriate actions.
- Analyze workplace challenges, offering solutions and guidance to employees.
- Advise on the progressive disciplinary process, ensuring compliance with legal and policy standards.
- Conduct organizational assessments and provide strategic advice on restructuring and change management.


Collaboration is essential in this role. The Client Partner will work closely with colleagues in the P&C sector's Conflict Resolution and Policy Department to manage disputes and ensure fair application of university policies. Additionally, this position will involve:

  • Ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Partnering with the Organizational Learning and Development Department to create training opportunities.
  • Coordinating talent management initiatives across departments.
  • Contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Engaging in strategic projects and committees across the campus.


Required Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate discussions and presentations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Knowledge of employment laws and the capacity to stay updated on legal changes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects effectively.


Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of two years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in SHRM or HRCI.
- Experience in employee and labor relations within an HR context.
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and the ability to foster productive relationships with union representatives.


Position Details:
- Full-time role, Monday through Friday, with a standard work schedule.
