The Client Partner serves as a vital consultant within the Human Resource Services (HRS) department, focusing on enhancing the operational effectiveness of various academic units. This role is integral to the newly established People and Culture (P&C) sector, aimed at fostering a collaborative environment across the university.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert advice and strategic guidance on HR matters to both management and staff.
2. Assess employee relations scenarios, offering recommendations and implementing necessary employment actions.
3. Analyze workplace dynamics, propose solutions, and offer counseling to employees.
4. Guide managers through the progressive disciplinary process, ensuring compliance with legal and policy standards.
5. Conduct organizational assessments and advise on restructuring and change management initiatives.
6. Collaborate with the P&C sector's Conflict Resolution and Policy Department to facilitate dispute resolution and ensure fair application of policies.
7. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment regulations to mitigate institutional risk.
8. Partner with the Organizational Learning and Development Department to create and deliver training programs for managers.
9. Engage in workforce and talent management initiatives in collaboration with university departments.
10. Actively contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across the campus.
11. Participate in strategic projects and committees, providing valuable insights and contributions.
12. Conduct research and analyze data to inform decision-making processes.
13. Manage complex projects, working closely with senior management.
14. Serve as a peer advisor to directors and senior leaders.
15. Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, accompanied by a minimum of two years of related experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated interpersonal abilities.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Knowledge of employment laws and the ability to stay updated on legal changes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with HR functions and practices, as well as talent management principles.
- Proficiency in utilizing HRIS systems for data management and reporting.
- Experience in coaching and advising staff on policies and procedures.
- Commitment to providing exceptional service to diverse groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from SHRM or HRCI.
- Experience in employee and labor relations within an HR context.
- Understanding of collective bargaining agreements and ability to foster productive relationships with union representatives.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
Position Details:
- Department: Human Resource Services
- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
