We are currently seeking a Product Line Manager for General Merchandise. Below are the key responsibilities and qualifications for this role.

Key Responsibilities

The Product Line Manager for General Merchandise will be responsible for the procurement, pricing, and marketing of a range of general merchandise products for warehouse and customer sales. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, introducing new products, creating promotions, and delivering sales presentations for assigned merchandise. The manager will oversee and maintain appropriate inventory levels, turnover rates, and profit margins to optimize branch profitability. Additionally, the role requires soliciting direct and warehouse sales for all general merchandise products, collaborating closely with the location manager or sales manager to promote both existing and new products.

The Product Line Manager will also manage replenishment, pricing, and inventory control for assigned products, adjusting prices as necessary and maintaining catalog price listings. An annual marketing plan will be developed that includes vendor, division, and product promotions. Maintaining technical knowledge of products is essential, as is assessing product market potential. The manager will identify and analyze competitive products, explore new markets and product opportunities, and work closely with division merchandising to select suppliers. Building and maintaining customer relationships, providing quotes, and selling additional products are also key components of this role. The manager will assist the operations manager in warehousing assigned products and will present at dealer meetings, sales meetings, builder shows, etc. A strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement is expected.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: A college degree or equivalent experience in a related field is required. The working environment is primarily office-based with minimal physical exertion.

Preferred Qualifications: Strong communication skills are essential. Proficiency in relevant computer software applications is necessary for fulfilling job responsibilities. Typically, candidates should have more than seven (7) years of experience in the building products industry or general merchandise sales.
