Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director of Medical Staff Operations to lead our medical staff services functions. This role will be responsible for the strategic and administrative direction of our medical staff services, including credentialing, re-credentialing, and medical staff bylaws and rules/regulations development and revision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Credentialing and Re-Credentialing: Ensure a successful streamlined process for initial appointments and reappointments throughout all of our ministries and lead the move to a single credentialing and peer review software platform.
  • Medical Staff Governance: Provide guidance and support to the medical staff for grievance procedures and the fair hearing process in accordance with the medical staff bylaws and the rules and regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Serve as a resource for and promote compliance with regulatory standards related to all of our medical staff offices and support external regulatory surveys as applicable.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate, streamline, and continually enhance medical staff communications across various media platforms and represent the organization as a subject matter expert in the Medical Staff Office Governance Committee.
  • Onboarding and Education: Standardize and oversee divisional onboarding and mandatory education for providers, observers, and students.
  • Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules: Assist the medical staff in review and revision of medical staff bylaws and the rules and regulations as needed to accommodate regulatory changes and to facilitate functional improvement.
  • Central Verification Office: Supervise and optimize the Central Verification Office function with the intention to disseminate throughout the division.
  • Annual Budget: Develop and supervise the annual budget of the medical staff offices across the division.
  • Peer Review Processes: Provide oversight of peer review processes in each ministry and migration to a single peer review software platform.
  • Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE): Provide oversight for OPPE helping to support early detection and response to performance issues that could negatively impact patient outcomes.
  • Performance Evaluation: Responsible for all identified outcome measures as denoted on performance evaluation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certifications: NAMSS leadership certification, NAMSS Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification, HealthCare Quality and Peer Review training, and NAMSS Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification (preferred).
  • Experience: 10 or more years of experience in the field of medical staff services and credentialing systems, and 8 years of experience in progressive leadership and management roles.
  • Skills: Oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, strong management and leadership abilities, independent problem-solving and analytical skills, decision-making and negotiating skills, knowledge of the medical staff organization responsibilities and its related bylaws and rules/regulations, knowledge of current TJC, CMS, CDPH, title 22, MBC, ACCME, and other regulatory standards, and ability to work well under pressure and to remain calm in stressful situations.
