About the Role

The Executive Director of Medical Staff Affairs is a strategic and administrative leader responsible for the direction of all medical staff services functions across the South Division. This includes credentialing, re-credentialing, medical staff bylaws and rules/regulations development and revision, as well as continuing medical education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for medical staff services, including credentialing, re-credentialing, and medical staff bylaws and rules/regulations development and revision.
  • Lead the development and implementation of continuing medical education programs, ensuring compliance with Federal and State requirements.
  • Oversee division operations, budgeting, planning, and development of information systems, as well as coordination of information flow within the service areas across the division and medical and allied health departments.
  • Collaborate with North and Central Division MSO leaders and the Medical Staff Office Governance Committee to ensure compliance with system-related initiatives.
  • Ensure a successful streamlined process for initial appointments and reappointments throughout all South Division ministries.
  • Provide guidance and support to the medical staff for grievance procedures and the fair hearing process.
  • Coordinate, streamline, and continually enhance South Division Medical Staff Communications across various media platforms.
  • Represent the South Division as a subject matter expert in the Medical Staff Office Governance Committee and collaborate across the enterprise to modernize, integrate, and standardize MSO functions.
  • Standardize and oversee divisional onboarding and mandatory education for Providers, Observers, and Students.
  • Assist the Medical Staff in review and revision of Medical Staff bylaws and the rules and regulations as needed.
  • Supervise and optimize the Central Verification Office (CVO) function and disseminate it throughout the Division.
  • Develop and supervise the annual budget of the medical staff offices across the South Division.
  • Provide oversight of Physician Call Schedule compilation and dissemination system and processes.
  • Ensure best practices in peer review processes in each ministry and migration to single peer review software platform.
  • Provide oversight for Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Attendance of related professional seminars and educational events.
  • NAMSS leadership certification.
  • NAMSS Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification.
  • HealthCare Quality and Peer Review training.
  • NAMSS Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification (preferred).
  • 10 or more years of experience in medical staff services and credentialing systems.
  • 8 years of experience in progressive leadership and management roles.
