Overview
We are in search of a highly skilled professional to take on the role of Director of Tax at our corporate headquarters. The Director of Tax will be accountable for the comprehensive management of the organization’s tax strategy, compliance, and planning initiatives. This position is crucial in ensuring adherence to tax obligations while optimizing the overall tax position of the company. The Director will lead a dedicated team of tax experts, collaborate with external consultants, and partner with various departments to align tax strategies with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Strategy Development:
- Formulate and execute tax strategies aimed at reducing the company’s tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
- Provide insights to senior leadership regarding the tax consequences of business decisions and activities.
- Stay informed on changes in tax legislation and devise strategies to adapt accordingly.
  • Analyze intercompany transactions to mitigate risks with tax and customs authorities.

Tax Compliance Oversight:
- Supervise the preparation and submission of all tax returns, ensuring accuracy and punctuality.
- Guarantee compliance with all relevant tax laws and reporting obligations.
- Manage tax audits and inquiries from governmental tax agencies.

Tax Accounting and Reporting:
- Direct the tax accounting processes, including the formulation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
- Ensure precise and timely reporting of tax-related items in financial statements.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to maintain proper documentation supporting tax positions.

Leadership and Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and nurture the tax team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Establish performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations.
- Oversee the recruitment and retention of tax personnel.

Risk Management:
- Identify and address tax risks through effective internal controls and policies.
- Ensure proper documentation for tax positions and transactions.
- Remain updated on industry trends and best practices to maintain a robust tax risk management framework.
  • Monitor and enhance operational transfer pricing processes to facilitate smooth intercompany transactions.
  • Review profitability from intercompany transactions and adjust agreements as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Legal, Finance, Operations) to provide tax guidance and support on various initiatives.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants as required.
- Effectively communicate complex tax matters and strategies to non-tax professionals, including senior management and the board of directors.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Master’s degree in accounting with a focus on Taxation is required.
- At least 10 years of tax experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Strong grasp of tax accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proven success in developing and implementing effective tax strategies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar position within a large corporation or public accounting firm.
- International tax experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Onesource Tax Provision and Onesource Income Tax software, as well as SAP.
