Overview

We are in search of a highly skilled professional to take on the role of Director of Tax at our corporate headquarters. This position is crucial for overseeing the company's tax strategies, compliance measures, and overall tax management. The Director of Tax will ensure that the organization adheres to all tax obligations while optimizing its financial position regarding taxes. This role will involve leading a dedicated team of tax specialists, collaborating with external consultants, and engaging with various departments to ensure tax strategies align with the broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:Tax Strategy Development:
  1. Formulate and execute tax strategies aimed at reducing the organization's tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws.
  2. Provide insights to senior leadership regarding the tax implications of business operations and strategic initiatives.
  3. Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation and develop responsive strategies accordingly.
  4. Analyze intercompany transactions to minimize risk with tax and customs authorities.
Tax Compliance Oversight:
  1. Supervise the preparation and submission of all tax returns, ensuring precision and punctuality.
  2. Guarantee adherence to all applicable tax regulations and reporting standards.
  3. Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Tax Accounting and Reporting:
  1. Direct the tax accounting processes, including the formulation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
  2. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of tax-related figures in financial statements.
  3. Collaborate with the finance team to maintain proper documentation supporting tax positions.
Leadership and Team Development:
  1. Guide, mentor, and develop the tax team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  2. Establish performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations.
  3. Oversee the recruitment and retention of tax personnel.
Risk Management:
  1. Identify and mitigate tax-related risks through effective internal controls and policies.
  2. Ensure comprehensive documentation and support for tax positions and transactions.
  3. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to uphold a robust tax risk management framework.
Collaboration and Communication:
  1. Engage with other departments (e.g., Legal, Finance, Operations) to provide tax guidance and support on various initiatives.
  2. Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants as necessary.
  3. Effectively communicate complex tax matters and strategies to non-tax professionals, including senior management and the board.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  2. Master's degree in accounting with a focus on Taxation is mandatory.
  3. A minimum of 10 years of tax experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  5. Strong grasp of tax accounting principles and financial reporting.
  6. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective tax strategies.
  7. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience in a similar position within a large corporation or public accounting firm.
  2. International tax experience is advantageous.
  3. Hands-on experience with Onesource Tax Provision and Onesource Income Tax software and SAP.
