Overview

We are in search of a highly skilled professional to take on the position of Director of Tax at our headquarters. This pivotal role involves directing and supervising the company's tax planning, compliance, and overall strategy. The Director of Tax will ensure that the organization adheres to its tax responsibilities while also enhancing its tax efficiency. This position will lead a dedicated team of tax experts, liaise with external consultants, and collaborate with various departments to synchronize tax strategies with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities:Tax Strategy Development:
  1. Formulate and execute tax strategies aimed at reducing the organization's tax obligations while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  2. Provide guidance to senior leadership regarding the tax consequences of business operations and strategic initiatives.
  3. Evaluate and respond to changes in tax legislation, developing strategies to adapt accordingly.
  4. Analyze intercompany transactions to devise strategies that minimize risks with tax and customs authorities.
Tax Compliance Oversight:
  1. Supervise the preparation and submission of all tax returns, ensuring precision and timely filing.
  2. Guarantee compliance with all relevant tax laws and reporting standards.
  3. Manage audits and inquiries from tax authorities effectively.
Tax Accounting and Reporting Management:
  1. Oversee the tax accounting process, including the formulation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
  2. Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of tax-related items in financial statements.
  3. Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure proper documentation and support for tax positions.
Leadership and Team Development:
  1. Guide, mentor, and develop the tax team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  2. Establish performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations of team performance.
  3. Manage the recruitment and retention of tax personnel.
Risk Management:
  1. Identify and mitigate tax-related risks through effective internal controls and policies.
  2. Ensure adequate documentation and support for tax positions and transactions.
  3. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to maintain a strong tax risk management framework.
Collaboration and Communication:
  1. Work closely with other departments (e.g., Legal, Finance, Operations) to provide tax advice and support on various projects and transactions.
  2. Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants as necessary.
  3. Effectively communicate complex tax issues and strategies to non-tax professionals, including senior management and the board of directors.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  2. Master's degree in accounting with a focus on Taxation is required.
  3. A minimum of 10 years of experience in tax, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  5. Strong grasp of tax accounting principles and financial reporting.
  6. Proven success in developing and implementing effective tax strategies.
  7. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience in a similar capacity within a large corporation or public accounting firm.
  2. International tax experience is advantageous.
  3. Hands-on experience with Onesource Tax Provision and Onesource Income Tax software and SAP.
