Overview
We are in search of a seasoned professional to take on the role of Head/Director of Tax at our corporate headquarters. The Director of Tax is tasked with the oversight and management of the organization’s tax strategy, compliance, and planning. This position is crucial in ensuring that the organization adheres to its tax responsibilities while maximizing its tax efficiency. The Director will lead a dedicated team of tax experts, collaborate with external consultants, and engage with various departments to ensure tax strategies are in sync with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Strategy and Planning:

- Formulate and execute tax strategies aimed at reducing the company’s tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations.

- Provide insights to senior leadership regarding the tax implications of business operations and strategic initiatives.

- Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation and devise strategies to adapt accordingly.
  • Analyze intercompany transactions to develop strategies that mitigate risks with tax and customs authorities.

Tax Compliance:

- Supervise the preparation and submission of all tax returns, ensuring precision and punctuality.

- Guarantee adherence to all relevant tax laws and reporting standards.

- Manage audits and inquiries from tax authorities effectively.

Tax Accounting and Reporting:

- Oversee the tax accounting functions, including the formulation of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.

- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of tax-related items in financial statements.

- Collaborate with the accounting department to maintain proper documentation and support for tax positions.

Team Leadership and Development:

- Guide, mentor, and develop the tax team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

- Establish performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations.

- Manage the recruitment and retention of tax personnel.

Risk Management:

- Identify and mitigate tax-related risks through effective internal controls and policies.

- Ensure comprehensive documentation and support for tax positions and transactions.

- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to maintain a robust tax risk management framework.
  • Oversee operational transfer pricing processes to facilitate smooth intercompany transactions with appropriate pricing.
  • Evaluate jurisdictional profitability from intercompany dealings and adjust agreements and systems as necessary.

Collaboration and Communication:

- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Legal, Finance, Operations) to provide tax guidance and support on various initiatives and transactions.

- Coordinate with external tax advisors and consultants as required.

- Simplify complex tax issues and strategies for non-tax professionals, including senior management and the board of directors.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.

- Master’s degree in accounting with a focus on Taxation is required.

- At least 10 years of experience in tax, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity.

- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.

- Strong grasp of tax accounting principles and financial reporting.

- Proven success in developing and executing effective tax strategies.

- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in a similar role within a large corporation or public accounting firm.

- International tax experience is advantageous.

- Practical experience with Onesource Tax Provision and Onesource Income Tax software and SAP.
