JOB SUMMARY


The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for a range of food preparation tasks, including the assembly of cold dishes and the upkeep of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils. This role involves serving meals to patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring that dietary needs are met.

Additionally, the associate will process new dietary requests and menu modifications, keeping accurate records of nutritional information and communicating patient requirements to the dietary team.



Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Nutrition Services and/or designated personnel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High School diploma or GED preferred

Work Experience

Prior experience in food service and customer interaction is preferred.

License/Certification: N/A

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Culinary Service Associate will:

1. Process dietary requests and updates to menus.
2. Maintain accurate records of nutritional data and communicate dietary needs to the team.
3. Serve meals to patients and in dining facilities, ensuring adherence to dietary orders.
4. Assist in food preparation in accordance with production schedules.
5. Verify tray contents to ensure compliance with dietary requirements.
6. Prepare and serve food items according to established menu guidelines.
7. Transport food and supplies to designated areas, ensuring proper setup.


8. Monitor meal distribution to ensure compliance with dietary guidelines, especially for special diets.

9. Ensure food is maintained at safe temperatures in serving areas.


10. Operate food production equipment following established policies.
11. Take and serve food orders to customers.
12. Record food portions served and manage food storage according to procedures.


13. Assist in training new staff on proper food handling techniques and equipment use.


14. Maintain cleanliness in assigned areas following sanitation protocols.

OTHER DUTIES

1. Prepare trays with necessary dining accessories.
2. Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils and equipment.
3. Arrange food items for service.
4. Oversee food service operations to ensure compliance with procedures.
5. Stock dining areas with food and supplies.


6. Assist in clearing tables and operating dishwashing equipment as needed.

7. Perform additional duties as assigned.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
2. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds during shifts.
3. Visual acuity with corrective lenses.
4. Hearing ability with assistance if necessary.
5. Exposure to infectious diseases may occur.
6. Capability to manage emergency situations effectively.
7. Use of protective equipment may be required.
8. Engage in various physical activities including reaching, bending, and kneeling in food preparation areas.
9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
10. Must pass all required health screenings, including drug tests.
