JOB SUMMARY


The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for a range of food preparation tasks, including the assembly of cold dishes and the upkeep of kitchen workspaces, equipment, and utensils. This role involves serving meals to patients, staff, and visitors.

The position also entails processing new dietary plans and modifications to existing menus. The associate will maintain records of nutritional data and communicate patient dietary needs to the nutrition team.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Nutrition Services and/or their designated representative.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

High School diploma or GED preferred.

Work Experience

Previous experience in food service and customer interaction is preferred.

License/Certification: N/A

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Culinary Service Associate will process dietary requests and changes to existing meal plans.

Maintain accurate records of nutritional information and communicate dietary requirements to the nutrition staff.

Serve meals to patients in hospital rooms or residential care settings.

Assist in food preparation according to established production guidelines.

Verify that meal trays contain all necessary items.

Prepare and serve trays according to dietary orders during meal service.

Ensure proper presentation of food on plates or trays based on orders or guidelines.

Transport food and supplies to serving areas, ensuring proper setup.


Monitor meal distribution to ensure adherence to dietary guidelines, especially for special diets.

Ensure food is maintained at the correct temperature in serving areas.

Operate food production equipment in accordance with safety and quality standards.

Take meal orders, portion, and serve food to customers.

Document portions served as per procedures; manage food storage and disposal according to guidelines.


Assist in training staff on proper techniques and the use of equipment and supplies.

Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas following sanitary protocols as per schedule and as needed.

OTHER DUTIES

Prepare trays with necessary accessories such as utensils and condiments.

Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.

Arrange food for serving.

Oversee food service operations to ensure compliance with procedures.

Restock serving areas with food and supplies.


Assist in clearing soiled dishes and refuse from dining areas and operate dishwashing equipment according to established protocols.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required.

Must be capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 40 pounds during shifts.

Vision must be correctable to meet job requirements.

Must be able to hear clearly with assistance if necessary.

Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases may occur.

Able to manage emergency situations effectively.

Protective equipment may be required as necessary.

Involves reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching in food preparation areas.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.

Must pass all required health screenings, including random drug tests.
