About the Role

Libertine, a new French bistro in the heart of the West Village, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, production, and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Quality and Safety: Maintain the highest standards of food quality, ensuring that all dishes meet our culinary expectations.
  • Culinary Leadership: Supervise and direct food preparation and production, ensuring that all team members are working efficiently and effectively.
  • Team Management: Direct and train kitchen staff, ensuring that they are equipped to meet the demands of our fast-paced kitchen.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in ordering and receiving necessary food products and supplies, ensuring that our inventory levels are always optimal.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all equipment is in good working order, implementing a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime.
Requirements
  • Culinary Expertise: Advanced culinary skills, including food preparation, sauce making, and other cooking best practices.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to train, direct, and supervise kitchen staff.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with our culinary team and other departments.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
