Athletics Development Professional

Seeking a seasoned fundraising professional to lead athletic development efforts and secure significant philanthropic support for Merrimack College.
About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled fundraiser to join our team as the Director of Development, Athletics. Reporting directly to [supervisor], you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in securing five- and six-figure gifts from high net-worth individuals and corporations, with a strong understanding of fundraising principles and practices in higher education.
You will work closely with Athletics leadership, development colleagues, coaches, trustees, and other volunteers to identify opportunities for prospect engagement within the teams and develop documented stewardship plans for all major gift donors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve fundraising goals for Merrimack College Athletics.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with high net-worth individuals and corporations to secure major gifts.
- Work collaboratively with Athletics leadership, development colleagues, and other stakeholders to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities.
- Develop and execute comprehensive stewardship plans for major gift donors.
- Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities and progress towards goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in direct frontline fundraising, preferably in major and planned gifts.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and alumni.
- Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, with ability to establish credibility and confidence with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with executive-level alumni and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and formulate creative strategies for major gifts advancement.
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Google applications and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel locally and nationally as needed to meet with donors and stakeholders.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on experience.
