Job Overview

Merrimack College seeks a skilled and results-driven Athletics Development Strategist to join our team. This key role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure significant philanthropic support for Merrimack College Athletics.

About the Role

The Director of Philanthropic Partnerships will report to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and work closely with the Vice President for Athletics to identify and implement strategies for success in securing major gifts, sponsorships, and other forms of support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of high net-worth individuals and corporations, building deep philanthropic relationships and soliciting significant gifts.
  • Develop and implement strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects, successfully moving them through the qualification and cultivation processes to solicitation.
  • Collaborate with Athletics leadership, development colleagues, coaches, trustees, and other volunteers to identify opportunities for prospect engagement within the teams.
  • Prepare written briefings and solicitation strategies for senior leadership and coach visits with prospective donors, as well as follow-up documentation and correspondence.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in direct frontline fundraising in major and planned gifts, preferably including experience with Athletic fundraising.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse student body, coaches, parents, staff, and other constituents.
  • Ability to establish credibility and confidence with stakeholders, exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively engage with all levels within the college.
