Position Overview:

The Executive Vice President of Operations will oversee, guide, and manage the operational functions and initiatives related to the daily activities of the medical facility, ensuring the provision of efficient and high-quality services. This role encompasses supervision of Pharmacy, support services, resource management, workplace safety, and Performance Improvement, in close collaboration with Patient Care Services to influence operational and financial goals. The position requires working in partnership with TPMG and Labor leadership to foster effective collaborations and relationships within the medical facility and surrounding service area. The Executive Vice President will ensure the execution of system-wide and regional strategic initiatives and policies.

The ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable, experienced, and highly capable executive with a proven track record of driving strategic and operational transformations in a multifaceted environment. The preferred management style will demonstrate confidence in operational expertise, integrity, collaboration, adaptability, and a focus on results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the medical facility, taking charge of hospital administration in the absence of the Senior Vice President Area Manager.
  • Lead the development of a high-performing team and organization that meets both mission and financial/operational objectives.
  • Provide strategic direction to unite diverse stakeholders in conceptualizing, articulating, and executing a shared vision for the medical facility and service area. Foster a culture of trust and maintain open communication channels.
  • Formulate and implement key strategies that distinguish Kaiser Permanente from competitors in service and clinical excellence.
  • Encourage transparent, effective, and ongoing communication among Kaiser Permanente employees, physician leadership, and medical staff.
  • Establish a decisive, action-oriented culture that is flexible and ready to seize opportunities for enhancing quality, service, and performance. Integrate quality, service, and efficiency improvements into daily operations.
  • Set clear goals and objectives, ensuring timely follow-through. Mentor and develop direct reports and staff, emphasizing teamwork, collaboration, and the sharing of information and best practices.
  • Achieve or surpass performance expectations across hospital operations.
  • Create an environment that supports caregivers, enhancing growth, communication, and job satisfaction. Collaborate with HR to implement integrated human resources strategies that ensure effective recruitment, retention, and development of key personnel.
  • Manage the operating and capital budgets for assigned areas, proactively addressing any budget variances. Make informed decisions regarding resource allocation in alignment with regional priorities and strategies.
  • Support the successful operational rollout of new technology platforms, systems, and processes.
  • Promote and implement the Labor-Management Partnership throughout the organization, achieving key initiatives and demonstrating LMP behaviors within the hospital.
  • Model and reinforce ethical conduct in accordance with Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility, ensuring confidentiality, protecting organizational assets, and adhering to applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years in hospital operations, with extensive experience in healthcare leadership roles.
Education
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
