Job Overview:


The Vice President of Operations will oversee, guide, and synchronize the operational functions and initiatives related to the daily management of the medical facility, ensuring the provision of cost-efficient and high-quality services.

This role encompasses supervision of pharmacy services, support operations, resource management, workplace safety, and performance enhancement, working closely with Patient Care Services to influence operational and financial goals.

In collaboration with leadership from TPMG and labor relations, the Vice President is tasked with fostering effective partnerships and cooperative relationships within the medical facility and surrounding service area.

The Vice President ensures the execution of system-wide and regional strategic objectives and policies.


The ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable, experienced executive with a proven track record of driving strategic and operational transformation in a multifaceted environment.

The preferred candidate will demonstrate a management style characterized by operational confidence, integrity, collaboration, adaptability, and a focus on results.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversees the daily operations of the medical facility. Takes charge of hospital administration in the absence of the Senior Vice President Area Manager.

Leads efforts in cultivating a high-performing team and organization that meets both the mission and financial/operational goals of Kaiser Permanente.

Provides strategic direction in uniting diverse stakeholders to conceptualize, articulate, and execute a shared vision for the medical facility and its service area.

Fosters a culture built on trust among stakeholders, maintaining open lines of communication and encouraging information exchange.
Develops and implements key strategies that distinguish Kaiser Permanente from competitors in terms of service and clinical excellence.

Encourages transparent, effective, and ongoing communication and information sharing among KP employees, physician leadership, and medical staff.

Creates an environment that is decisive, action-oriented, flexible, and ready to seize opportunities to enhance quality, service, and performance. Ensures the integration of quality, service, and efficiency improvements into everyday operations.
Establishes clear goals and objectives and ensures timely follow-through.

Provides mentorship and development opportunities for direct reports and staff, emphasizing teamwork, collaboration, and the sharing of information, resources, and best practices across the organization.

Achieves or surpasses performance expectations throughout hospital operations.
Creates a supportive environment for caregivers that promotes growth, communication, and job satisfaction.

In partnership with HR, directs the implementation of integrated human resources strategies to ensure effective recruitment, retention, and development of key personnel.

Manages operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility, proactively addressing any budget variances. Makes informed decisions regarding resource allocation in alignment with regional priorities and strategies.

Throughout these responsibilities, provides leadership and guidance in navigating the organization through necessary changes, integrating diverse perspectives and fostering ownership.

Supports the successful operational rollout of new technology platforms, systems, and processes.
Promotes and implements the Labor-Management Partnership across the organization. Achieves key LMP initiatives and ensures the demonstration of LMP behaviors throughout the medical facility. Ensures labor involvement in relevant decision-making forums and committees.

Models and reinforces ethical conduct in self and others in accordance with the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting organizational assets, acting with integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.


Basic Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in hospital operations, with extensive experience in healthcare leadership roles.
Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
License, Certification, Registration: N/A

Thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory, ethical, managerial, and organizational requirements, principles, and standards of care for hospitals and healthcare systems.
Experience in assessing programs, evaluating organizational needs, designing process improvements, and successfully implementing changes to workflows and patient care.
Extensive knowledge of hospital administration principles and practices.
Significant experience collaborating with physicians and other clinicians; must provide examples of successful collaborative efforts.
