Position Overview

SM Diversity is in search of a dynamic and innovative Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to lead our marketing and communications efforts during a pivotal time in our organization’s evolution. The CMO will serve as the primary architect of our brand, marketing strategies, and creative content, driving a transformation in how we communicate our mission and engage with our stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Oversee the development and execution of marketing strategies that align with SM Diversity's mission and objectives, including market analysis, brand management, and performance metrics.
  • Communications Strategy: Act as the chief strategist for communications initiatives, ensuring that messaging is forward-thinking and resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the integrity of SM Diversity's brand through consistent messaging and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing marketing and communications team, fostering a culture of inclusion and professional growth.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and nurture relationships with community leaders and organizations to enhance engagement and collaboration.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing and communications, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to convey compelling narratives that inspire action.
  • A strong understanding of community needs and the ability to apply knowledge of racial equity and systems change in marketing strategies.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively to support sustainable initiatives.
