Position Overview:

Aligned with the institution's mission, educators will guarantee that every student attains the knowledge and competencies necessary for academic advancement and success, as outlined by educational and instructional goals. Instructors are expected to embody the mission and guiding principles of the institution, adhere to the standards of conduct, and foster constructive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability to promote both academic and personal success for students.

Educators will deliver the relevant content and skills by employing curriculum materials sanctioned by the institution, alongside suitable supplementary and self-created resources; devise lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and specific student needs; cultivate a learning atmosphere that promotes positive social interactions, active participation, and self-driven motivation; and engage collaboratively with colleagues in initiatives aimed at school enhancement, curriculum development, and student support.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement evidence-based curriculum and instructional strategies:
  • Facilitate a challenging, research-informed curriculum aimed at fostering student academic progress, consistent with institutional and network objectives.
  • Design, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional resources that promote active learning.
  • Establish clear and positive academic standards and expectations for all students to assess their progress.
  • Create comprehensive lesson plans and activities that align with established protocols.
  • Utilize relevant technology to enhance and differentiate instruction.
  • Monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Clearly communicate objectives for all learning activities.
  • Employ a variety of educational materials and resources in instructional activities.
Evaluate student performance regularly to track progress:
  • Ensure every student's academic success through formative assessments that inform learning plans and summative assessments that gauge objective mastery. Provide opportunities for re-assessment to promote skill mastery.
  • Develop assessments that comply with established protocols.
  • Offer frequent, specific feedback on student work to advance learning.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student progress and development.
  • Update necessary records in accordance with legal, network, and institutional requirements.
  • Observe and assess student performance and growth.
  • Incorporate student choice into assessment frameworks.
Foster positive, productive relationships with students, staff, parents, and stakeholders:
  • Exhibit preparedness and skill in engaging with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Guide and supervise students in utilizing learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage classroom behavior by establishing and enforcing expectations and procedures.
  • Uphold discipline in accordance with institutional expectations and disciplinary frameworks.
  • Demonstrate respect and consideration for students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Build positive relationships and address the social and emotional needs of students using evidence-based methods as identified by school leadership.
  • Encourage parental and community involvement; provide information to parents upon request.
  • Initiate appropriate discussions with parents, guardians, and administrators as per institutional protocols.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents or guardians regarding student academic progress, attendance, and behavior.
Commit to collaboration, innovation, and adaptable professional practices:
  • Engage actively and constructively in departmental, school, network, and parent meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative teaching techniques and assessment approaches.
  • Participate in discussions and initiatives aimed at enhancing student performance, experience, attendance, and conduct.
  • Involve students in curricular planning and assessment development.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration in the design and execution of instructional programs.
  • Actively engage in the instructional coaching process.
  • Accept and apply feedback from coaching sessions.
Fulfill professional obligations as defined by the institution:
  • Engage in structured lesson planning that offers differentiated options for various skill levels, based on established standards and curriculum.
  • Produce and share lesson plans in accordance with institutional procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate gradebook as per institutional guidelines.
  • Implement grading protocols established by the institution.
  • Participate in professional learning and collaboration days to enhance skills, exchange feedback, and embrace coaching and mentoring opportunities.
  • Prepare required reports on student performance and activities.
  • Communicate essential information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Prepare the classroom, whether physical or virtual, for instructional activities.
  • Assign and evaluate class work, projects, and assessments following institutional protocols.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
  • Respond promptly to communications within designated timeframes.
  • Attend school events to gain insights into student interests and personalities beyond the classroom setting.
  • Adhere to institutional policies and protocols.
  • Build respectful relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned within the framework of the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Required) in relevant content area or related field (Preferred).
  • Master's Degree in relevant content area or related field (Preferred).
  • Valid Professional Educators License (PEL Required) or equivalent out-of-state licensure.
  • Endorsements in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) (Strongly Preferred).
  • Endorsement in ESL (A Plus).
  • Bilingual capabilities in Spanish/English; Arabic/English; Urdu/English (Preferred).
Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience in planning and teaching at the high school level (Required).
  • Experience in an urban high school environment (Strongly Preferred).
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification standards, academic content, and contemporary teaching principles and practices.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Capacity to work effectively and professionally with students, parents, staff, and community representatives.
  • Flexibility in instructional approaches, assessment, and relationship building.
  • Fundamental understanding of developmental principles as they apply to children and adolescents.
  • Strong ability to apply contemporary teaching practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound professional judgment.
  • Proficient technical skills, including familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and presentation tools.
