Reporting Structure: Reports to the Principal/Assistant Principal

Role Summary:

Aligned with the educational objectives of the institution, paraprofessional class proctors will oversee student activities and ensure that every learner attains the necessary knowledge and skills for academic success, as defined by curriculum standards and institutional goals. These professionals provide instructional assistance and support for students engaged in independent or virtual learning. They work with individuals or small groups, offering supervision and instructional, emotional, and behavioral support to maintain a constructive and organized classroom environment.


Paraprofessional class proctors are expected to embody the mission and guiding principles of the institution, assist students in adhering to the Student Code of Conduct, and cultivate positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in promoting student achievement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • In-Class Supervision: Oversee students engaged in independent or virtual learning activities.
  • Facilitate student independence and engagement through synchronous virtual instruction or independent assignments.
  • Assist students with technology navigation, including troubleshooting devices and learning platforms.
  • Support the virtual instructor in maintaining a positive and orderly learning environment.
  • Monitor attendance and communicate student progress or concerns to relevant staff.
  • Assist students with independent projects or virtual learning programs.

Support for Diverse Learners:

  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment for all students.
  • Implement accommodations for diverse learners under the guidance of the case manager.
  • Execute behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with special needs.
  • Model positive behaviors and interpersonal skills for students.
  • Address disciplinary issues and collaborate with the administrative team as needed.
  • Collect and report behavioral data as required.

Professional Collaboration and Development:

  • Engage in productive participation in departmental and school meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative paraprofessional techniques for diverse learners.
  • Participate in discussions aimed at enhancing student performance and experience.
  • Attend IEP meetings when necessary.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Arrive punctually for assignments.
  • Proactively provide necessary support.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
  • Respond to communications in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to institutional policies and protocols.
  • Foster respectful relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
