Overview:

The global market for data management software is extensive. At MongoDB, we are revolutionizing industries and enabling developers to create exceptional applications that are utilized daily. As the foremost developer data platform and the first database provider to go public in over two decades, we invite you to be part of our innovative journey.

About the Cloud Services Team:

This team is a diverse assembly of contributors collaborating to assist users in managing MongoDB on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities:

The Cloud Team oversees MongoDB Atlas, our database-as-a-service solution and our fastest-growing product, which empowers users to deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters within minutes.

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to become a member of our Insights and Telemetry (InTel) Team within Cloud Platforms. The Cloud InTel team is tasked with developing our Cloud observability tools and infrastructure for the Developer Data Platform, which includes MongoDB and various tools within our ecosystem such as App Services and Atlas Search.

Utilize your enthusiasm for observability to influence the development of MongoDB's next-generation diagnostic products. Contribute your unique insights to create innovative solutions that will have a significant impact on our exciting path forward.

Position Expectations:

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with research, product management, engineering, design, and other teams to define the future growth and evolution of our observability solutions.
  • Establish standards and a vision for observability and its architecture across our entire product suite.
  • Design, architect, build, and deliver essential components of our observability services in partnership with other stakeholders.
  • Influence architecture, development practices, and escalation policies as the teams and products evolve.

Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with:

  • A substantial background in distributed systems internals or the development of core components for large-scale observability systems.
  • Over 10 years of experience in building distributed systems and/or cloud services at scale.
  • A proven track record in designing, writing, testing, debugging, performance tuning, and maintaining distributed and/or highly concurrent software systems within extensive, long-lived codebases.
  • A strong foundation in computer science principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills, a desire to collaborate with peers, mentor fellow engineers, and take ownership of projects.
  • A history of identifying challenges, implementing solutions, and delivering complex projects in distributed systems or databases.
  • A deep sense of ownership, accountability, and pride in your work.

Success Metrics:

Within three months, you will have become acquainted with our code, systems, and ongoing projects. After six months, you will be contributing to current projects and assisting in planning future work. By the end of one year, you will be shaping the vision and driving efforts for observability across MongoDB's Developer Data Platform.

Commitment to Diversity:

MongoDB is dedicated to providing necessary accommodations for individuals with disabilities throughout our application and interview processes. Please inform your recruiter if you require any accommodations due to a disability.
