Position Overview

The Detroit Medical Center is in search of a Radiology Intervention Specialist to join our dedicated team.

Job Responsibilities

As a key member of our healthcare team, you will:

  • Conduct diagnostic interventional procedures using advanced imaging technology.
  • Ensure patient safety by verifying identity and reviewing medical histories.
  • Engage with patients to gather and confirm medical information, assessing any risk factors.
  • Thoroughly explain procedures to patients, detailing potential side effects, risks, benefits, and alternatives.
  • Prepare and operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality images as per established protocols.
  • Review and interpret images, documenting any deviations from standard procedures and communicating findings to the radiologist.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies when necessary.
  • Provide post-procedure care instructions as directed by physicians.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the radiology department.
  • Offer educational support to residents, student technologists, and new staff members.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required by the department.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology or relevant specializations.
  • Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) training by the end of the orientation period.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months for adult settings or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year for cardiology settings.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

  • Strong analytical and clinical skills to determine appropriate imaging methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Technical proficiency in operating specialized imaging equipment.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards set by the American College of Radiology.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks involving walking, standing, and lifting.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating imaging equipment.
