Key Responsibilities

Under general supervision and adhering to established protocols, the technologist will:

  • Conduct diagnostic interventional examinations using appropriate imaging technology.
  • Confirm patient identity and assess medical records for exam appropriateness.
  • Engage with patients to gather and verify medical histories, assessing any risk factors.
  • Thoroughly explain procedures to patients, including potential side effects and follow-up care.
  • Prepare equipment and capture necessary images according to established guidelines.
  • Review images, document any deviations from protocols, and communicate findings to the radiologist.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies effectively.
  • Provide post-care instructions as prescribed by physicians.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the radiology department.
  • Offer educational support to residents, student technologists, and new staff.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required.
  • Perform Radiologic Technologist duties as necessary.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (RT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV).
  • Completion of American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by the end of the orientation period.
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire for adult settings or PALS certification within 1 year for cardiology settings.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology.
Essential Skills:
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills for providing age-appropriate radiographs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Technical proficiency in operating specialized imaging equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of accreditation requirements set by the American College of Radiology.
  • Physical stamina for patient handling and care.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for high-quality imaging.
