Role Summary

Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols, this position serves as a lead or resource for personnel engaged in Angiography procedures, while also fulfilling the duties of an Angiography Specialist as necessary.

  • Oversees workflow, delegates tasks, and guides staff in executing their responsibilities.
  • Monitors the activities of Angiography Specialists or assigned personnel, addressing routine and complex issues to ensure departmental efficiency and safety.
  • Evaluates the quantity and quality of work to confirm completion of tasks.
  • Ensures that prescribed diagnostic procedures adhere to departmental standards.
  • Provides input for personnel evaluations, hiring decisions, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Assists in monitoring performance improvement initiatives and is responsible for scheduling and timekeeping for angiography specialists.
  • Available for on-call or standby duties as required by the department.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

1. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (RT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV).

2. Must complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training during the orientation period.

3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) within 6 months of hire for those in adult settings or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 1 year for those in cardiology settings.

4. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in Interventional Radiology.

Essential Skills

Basic Skills:

1. Strong analytical and clinical skills to determine the most appropriate methods for providing requested radiographs based on patient capabilities.

2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct patients under stress and to collaborate with a diverse range of hospital personnel.

3. Technical proficiency in operating specialized equipment and computers.

4. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively within a complex environment.

5. Knowledge of American College of Radiology accreditation requirements.

6. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

7. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate imaging equipment and produce high-quality diagnostic images.

Additional core skills required include:

1. Ability to gather and interpret data, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with departmental policies.

2. Effective communication and conflict resolution skills within the department.

3. Leadership capabilities with a focus on accountability, decision-making, coaching, and team support.
