Job Summary

The Stony Brook University Perioperative Services department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced TH Instructional Support Associate to oversee the planning and coordination of inventory and purchasing of implants, disposables, and equipment materials for surgery. This role requires a strong understanding of inventory management systems and procedures, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and recommend vendors for implant, disposable, and equipment materials
  • Work with management to identify supply needs and develop strategies to meet those needs
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate access to materials
  • Manage the distribution of supplies and maintain accurate records of materials quality, movement, and expenditure
  • Assist in departmental capital planning and budgeting
  • Prepare and manage supply costs for the POS departmental budget
  • Other administrative duties as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in materials management
  • At least 1 year of experience in managing surgical materials
  • Working knowledge of handling and ordering surgical implants
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in conjunction with accounts payable, accounts receivable under NYS procurement law
  • Experience ordering with vendor agreements, service contracts, and blanket POs
  • Experience resolving backorder issues
  • Working knowledge of surgical analytical programs such as Lawson, EDI/GHX, and Crystal reports
  • 1 or more year's experience in the handling of sensitive material such as sterile implants, human tissue, and sub-zero sterile goods
