Senior EEG Specialist - SB Clinical Practice Management

Location: Stony Brook, NY

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: Flexible hours between 7:30 AM - 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a rotation of four days; includes day and evening shifts; guaranteed at least one weekday off and one weekend day each week, involving 12-hour shifts.

Compensation: $39.60 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Position Summary: The Senior EEG Specialist is tasked with identifying EEG irregularities, producing comprehensive interpretations, and promptly informing supervising neurologists and other designated healthcare providers of the findings.

Primary Duties & Essential Functions:
  • Exhibits expertise in adult, pediatric, and neonatal EEG patterns, recognizing both normal and abnormal variations.
  • Capable of distinguishing artifacts from genuine cortical activity.
  • Efficiently monitors, identifies, and interprets EEG anomalies.
  • Demonstrates exceptional writing capabilities, producing detailed EEG reports in accordance with ACNS Standard Protocols.
  • Proficient in operating EEG machinery and addressing troubleshooting needs as they arise.
  • Possesses knowledge and skills in data reformatting for review by supervising neurologists.
  • Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills are essential.
  • Maintains professional interactions with hospital personnel, supervising neurologists, and fellow technologists.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, ACNS EEG description terminology, and commonly used abbreviations in neurodiagnostics.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • ABRET board certification in Electroencephalography (R. EEGT) and Certification in Long-Term Monitoring (CLTM) required within two years of employment.
  • R. EEG T certification and a minimum of two years of EEG experience, including at least one year in long-term monitoring within an ICU or EMU setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in advanced epilepsy monitoring within the EMU, including intracranial/stereotactic EEG.
  • Familiarity with Xltek EEG equipment.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here represent the essential functions of this role. The employee must effectively communicate with patients, staff, and medical professionals, ensuring accurate information exchange. This position requires active engagement, necessitating movement throughout the facility to assist patients and colleagues. Any additional physical requirements will be specified by management.
