Position Overview:
In this role, the Clinical Nutrition Technician operates under the guidance of a Senior Clinical Dietitian or Lead Dietetic Technician. The primary responsibility is to assist Clinical Dietitians by gathering relevant information, documenting observations, and effectively communicating with patients, their families, or caregivers. This includes obtaining detailed nutrition and weight histories, identifying food allergies and preferences, and adjusting meal selections accordingly to ensure compliance with prescribed dietary plans.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct nutrition screenings based on established criteria.
2. Collect and analyze food and nutrient intake data, including previous diets, meal patterns, nutritional supplements, and any difficulties related to chewing or swallowing.
3. Gather anthropometric data from medical records or through direct interviews with patients and their families.
4. Validate nutrition risk notifications and document findings in the designated electronic system.
5. Implement nutrition care plans as directed by the Clinical Dietitian, ensuring all interventions are effectively communicated to patients.
6. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of nutrition interventions, ensuring patient needs are consistently met.
7. Conduct meal rounds to assess food consumption and customer satisfaction, providing education on food choices and meal planning.
8. Engage with patients and their families to review nutritional care plans and menu selection systems, making necessary adjustments based on patient progress.
9. Facilitate individual and group nutrition education sessions, preparing patients for ongoing care at home.
10. Collaborate with Food Service Management to oversee the daily activities of Room Service Hosts and contribute to performance evaluations.

Qualifications:
Completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or equivalent, along with completion of an ACEND Didactic Program in Dietetics. A solid understanding of nutrition science and its application to human health is essential, along with the ability to identify nutritional issues and develop appropriate care plans.
Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare personnel. Supervisory skills are also required to guide menu collection processes.

Work Environment:
This position may involve exposure to communicable diseases, with safety protocols in place to minimize risks. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this role.
