We are seeking a highly skilled Dietary Technician to join our team at Lifespan. As a key member of our Food and Nutrition Services department, you will play a critical role in supporting the clinical dietitians in providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct nutrition screenings and collect food and nutrient intake information from patients, families, and caregivers.
- Obtain anthropometric information from medical records or through patient interviews.
- Visit patients and review medical records to validate nutrition risk notifications and document high-risk patients.
- Provide nutrition interventions and plans of care, as designed and directed by clinical dietitians.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding interventions and verify the implementation of nutrition plans.
- Monitor patient progress and provide nutrition education and support through meal rounds, nutrient intake analysis, and documentation.
- Collaborate with Food Service Management to ensure the work and daily activities of Room Service Hosts are aligned with patient needs.
- A baccalaureate degree in a related field, such as dietetics or nutrition, from a US regionally accredited college or university.
- Completion of an ACEND Didactic Program in Dietetics or a foreign equivalent.
- Thorough understanding of the scientific basis of nutrition and dietetics, including the application of principles to human physiology and disease states.
- Analytical ability to identify overt and potential nutritional problems and develop nutritional care plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide nutritional care to patients based on age-specific competencies and patient preferences.
- Prior experience in a nursing home or hospital setting and with food and nutrition services.
- Computer competency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
