Retail Operations Leader

Position Summary: The Retail Operations Leader is a key role responsible for fostering and maintaining customer connections while overseeing the store's operational functions. This position is crucial for driving sales and profitability through effective management of merchandise, inventory, expenses, human resources, and operational costs. The Retail Operations Leader is dedicated to personal growth and consistently surpassing company objectives.
General Purpose: The aim of this role is to provide guidance in all operational areas of the store by inspiring and motivating team members to deliver safe, prompt, and exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations and promotes business growth. This position, like all others, is committed to upholding the Family Express Mission and Vision.
Role Qualifications:
- Must be available on call 24/7
- Valid driver's license required
- Minimum age of 21
- High School diploma or equivalent is necessary
- Reliable transportation is essential
- Daily travel between various locations may be required
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Indiana alcohol manager designation
- Completion of necessary training programs (e.g., ServSafe, Cravin's To Order)
- Exceed expectations aligned with the Family Express culture, including relationship building and brand advocacy
- Perform all daily, weekly, and monthly accounting, banking, and auditing tasks using company-approved procedures
- Conduct competitive fuel price surveys as needed
- Review and complete store payroll accurately, ensuring proper allocations and schedules
- Effectively operate and maintain all approved store equipment
- Implement marketing, merchandising, and promotional strategies
- Enforce company policies regarding employee engagement, counseling, and disciplinary actions
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and image standards through regular audits and reviews
- Monitor applicant tracking systems and respond to applications promptly
- Recruit and retain qualified staff to meet hiring goals
- Lead, motivate, and train all employees
- Ensure security and safety for customers and staff, reporting incidents as necessary
- Achieve budgeted objectives and maintain acceptable profitability levels in sales, shrink, waste, and labor management
- Prepare store schedules in advance to ensure coverage
- Verify proper labor budget utilization
- Conduct scheduled performance reviews
- Maintain active training certifications at food service locations
- Participate in safety committee assignments as needed
- Maintain a working phone at all times
- Ensure appropriate coverage during employee vacations
- Complete Living Brand University courses
- Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: This role requires prolonged standing for extended shifts, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and the ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.
- Work Environment: Flexibility to work various shifts and days is necessary. Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures for short periods and exposure to cleaning solvents is required.
