SUMMARY

The Grants & Contracts Analyst plays a vital role within the MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) Grants & Contracts Office, focusing on the management of daily post-award financial operations and administrative tasks related to sponsored projects.

This position is essential for ensuring adherence to both financial and non-financial regulations set forth by federal entities and sponsors, as well as institutional policies. The Analyst will provide expertise in both basic and complex functions within their designated area.

Collaboration with pre-award teams and departmental personnel is crucial to guarantee exceptional service to researchers, administrators, and sponsors, while also ensuring responsible management of sponsor funds.

The Analyst will independently execute essential tasks within their workstream, contributing to the success of Post-Award Administration, Invoicing and Cash Management, and Award Set-Up and Data Management processes.


KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct a range of intricate analytical tasks to guarantee compliance with accounting standards, sponsor mandates, and institutional policies.

Specific responsibilities may include:


Award Management:
  • Oversee sponsored award expenditures to ensure compliance with federal and sponsor regulations, manage payroll and project effort, and prepare necessary financial reports for sponsors.
Financial Management:
  • Generate monthly invoices, monitor cash payments, process Letter Of Credit Draws, and manage cash balances and lockboxes.
Data and Agreement Management:
  • Facilitate account setup, ensuring accurate data capture in post-award systems, assess subrecipient risks, and manage subaward agreements.

  • Engage with Principal Investigators, Division and Department Administration, and Sponsors to deliver outstanding service and resolve complex issues related to sponsored program management.
  • Provide customer service support to external agencies in the administration of grants and contracts.
  • Stay informed on sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and relevant regulations, proactively updating team members on any changes.
  • Assist junior staff with operational challenges, offering guidance and expertise in sponsored program management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education Required:

Bachelor's degree.

Experience Required:

A minimum of two years of business experience, including administration, data analysis, or accounting. Additional years of education may substitute for required experience on a one-to-one basis.

Experience Preferred:

Experience in an academic medical center research environment, familiarity with federal grants, and knowledge of NIH and CPRIT guidelines, as well as experience with clinical trial contracts.

This position is designated for candidates located in the Houston, Texas area.
